GERIATRIC MEDICINE

Geriatrics is the care of elderly adults and is a sub-specialty of internal medicine. Because older adults have unique concerns related to aging, including issues that involve falls, sensory or cognitive impairment and other chronic diseases, we feel it is important to be treated by an internal medicine specialist with a strong background in geriatrics.

Katy Internal Medicine Associates (KIMA) physicians have years of experience managing the complex issues of elderly patients and coordinate with other providers such as home health professionals, nurse practitioners, physical therapists and social workers to manage the care of our patients. KIMA physicians also regularly work with local specialists such as cardiologists and gastroenterologists to optimize patient care.

KIMA physicians see elderly patients at area nursing homes or rehabilitation facilities and will continue to provide medical care for them if they are admitted to a local hospital.
